Thanks for the app!
Samsung Galaxy S with droid 2.2 doesn’t play the reminder.
What can i do?
Thanks a lot. I look forward to use this exiting app!
Gil
You are welcome, please keep the feedback coming! The sound issue was invisible on my development phone.
I fixed the sound issue, it is currently in testing. I expect the patch to be released on April 19-20th. More info can be found here:

Every time I make a screenshoot it isn´t on my sd card
Thank you, I’ll investigate the bug!
when I use the program two nights without erease or move the data file before the second night the data file becomes corrupted.
Rodrigo,
If I understand correctly, are you using the app continuously for 2 nights?
The app is intended to be started each night and stopped at the end of the nights.
I installed the app about 2 weeks ago, and I’ve been using the DILD option on all of my reminders. It hasn’t been working that well, since it doesn’t play reminders that oftent. Most nights it’s 0 times, and if I’m lucky it’s 2. I have a very hard bed, but I keep it as close to me as possible, without laying on top of it
So i switched to using WILD reminders instead, and set it to play the reminder every hour, and as it gets closer to the morning, every 45 minutes. This worked for the first 2-3 days, but then the reminders was not played at all. No reminders played throughout the night. And I have double and tripple checked wheter Smart Timers was turned off, and wether the individual timers was turned off, but everything is as it should be, but no reminders are played.
By the way, the app is awesome, it’s a really nice application. I have experience in developing Android apps myself, so I know how much work it takes to make an app like this, and it ain’t easy AT ALL, and very time consuming! Keep up the good work!
Jacob.
Actually I think this bug started when my phone ran out of power, because I forgot to flip the electricity switch.
Jacob,
Hey Jacob,
I found a significant bug with the smart timer/WILD timer that I’ll hopefully fix this weekend. This should resolve your issue as well, because it seems to be similar!
-Alex
Okay, yeah it might be the same problem. I’ve been fiddling around with it today, and I found another bug.
When you add a new smart timer event, and you want to set the time for when it should start, the time is forced on the other side of 00:00. What I mean is, if I sit with my phone, and it’s 15:30, and I’m considering taking a nap, and I want to add an event that starts at 16:30, it forces it to be 16:30 the next day. So it doesn’t say 60 minutes, it says 1550 minutes, which is 24 hours + the one hour from 15:30 to 16:30. So the event doesn’t trigger. I hope I explained it propperly.
Jacob.
Jacob,
I re-read your post and understand what you are experiencing. The smart timer works off the # of hours after going to bed. Let’s say you set your smart timer for 3:00, this will trigger 3 hours after you go to sleep. If you go to sleep at 22:00, it will play at 1:00 or so. If you go to bed at 2:00, it will trigger at 5:00.
What you have experienced with the numbers wrapping around is how the app fits a lot of information into 1 day. It puts 12-24 on the left side, and 24-12 on the right side, expecting this to be the regular sleeping time. There are issues with naps around noon, as they may wrap around
Yeah. I guess one way to avoid this problem would be to use timestamps instead of offsets in minutes. That would require a remake of alot of the functionality I would think. Looking forward to the new release, so I can start using the app again
I tried uninstalling the app, and remove the application data folder, or actually rename it, to see if I could get the Smart Timer to work again, but I can’t, so the app is broken for the time beeing it seems.
Jacob,
I installed this app last night. I calibrated it, and started the program. Sleep was had, I awoke, and have reviewed the data/closed everything out. Right now the “lucid dreaming app audio analyzer” is still in my notifications and it won’t close no matter how I click it or kill the task. I’m about to restart my phone to see if that will help.
Also, since that has been up, I cannot access my voicemail. It doesn’t dial anything.
Motorola Droid
2.2
Hey Ret,
This bug is puzzling. I’ve just removed the directive to restart the audio analyzer service if it crashed in the latest 0.7.3 release.
There are 2 ways to close the service: touch the “Audio Analyzer” listing in notifications. If that does not work, then you can go to your phone’s preferences, then select applications > running services> stop audio analyzer service.
Please tell me if the bug persists!
I can verify this bug still exists. I have the app installed on a Motorola Droid Razar Maxx with ICS. I can’t dismiss the notification from the bar. I need to stop the service/process.
First off all, awesome app!
Tried it months ago but it didn’t work on my zte blade.
Latest version works good, only bug is brightness…It says that’s going on 1% and after 2min. display is on full brightness, and it won’t go to 1% until I touch the screen.
Also I think you should make clock moving because of screen burn in.
Greetings from big lover of lucid dreams
My phone model: ZTE Blade
Os: 2.3.4
Using with EVO 4G, Android version 2.3.3
This app seemed pretty sweet! The only problem I seem to have is that it only records about 1 hour of activity, and it sends me back to the home screen, but I don’t know why…
Using Archos 7 Android 2.3.3
sometimes the app defaults to the home screen in the middle of the night without saving any data for unknown reasons. I have killed all apps before initiating. Should I also be killing the Wi-Fi before initiating. am I doing something else wrong?
Xperia Mini Pro Android 2.3.3
I can’t change the R-Values as intended. When I trie to edit one of the three fields, I get a format like 0000004000. If I delete one leading zero and add one at the end, the value is increased by factor 10. But if I hit change and open the r-Values again, they are back to default. They only remain changed, if the values are greater than one. But if they are, I can’t change them back to values below 1. The R-Values also do not influence the activity.
Samsung Galaxy S II
i had the same problem with the R-Values. And now after i changed the language of the phone to EN (US) (before Polish) it works. I think it is a mathematical problem… in Poland we use a coma between numbers (0,000100) and in US its a dot (0.000100)
i hope i get now the R-Values right
Hi, I couldn’t find a place that had suggestions, so I thought here might do.
Is there any plans to add a dream journal that you can use in the night? I would find it very useful to have a button available on maybe the clock that will open up the voice recorder on my phone to enable me to say a few words on what I was dreaming about.
I understand this may not be possible due to different voice recording programs on different phones, but I find getting up to write in a journal affects my drowsiness.
Thanks,
Dawn
Thanks for the suggestion Dawn! This feature would be available in the iPhone version of the app. In my past experiments, I found that writing stuff on paper is still the best option. Have you ever tried dictating when awoken from REM? it’s really really difficult to formulate coherent sentences while keeping the dream in mind. This may be just me.
Is it normal that after calibration the charts appear empty? I also get “20″ values on every field. And now the application just crashed.
Hi, I have experienced few issues with this app.
1- I seem not to be able to activate the reminders. I have tried various settings. It just doesn’t play. What do I do?
2- the app seems to freeze when on the charger and the charge reaches 100%. I only estimate this from the time the display freezes on and the estimated time of charging to full. This happens on both iPhone 4s and 3GS.
3- this is additional request… would it be possible to make the full manual available for download in PDF form? It would be helpful so one can try those settings while reading without quitting and re-entering the manual.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi!
First of all I wanted to thank you for all your work with the singularity app; it really seems well rounded and I’m sure it will be of great help to my lucid dreaming journey. Unfortunately for the time being, a few bugs prevent me from using the app correctly. I seem to have exactly the same bugs described above by Tomas:
-the app freezes at some point during the night, probably when battery reaches 100%.
-Reminders are never played.
I use an iPhone 4S.
Thank you for your attention
Hey, the version 1.1 is currently pending review in the app store. I fixed a bunch of crashes in that version, it should be stable. I also fixed the reminders not played bug. that one will be available in a few days
Great! can’t wait to be able to use the app and make my first step into the world of lucid dreaming! Many thanks!
Hi, I’ve just bought the app and it looks impressive. I’m using a iphone 4. It did crash 2 times after activating it and I don’t recall any reminders, but I’ll just wait for the 1.1 release before filing detailed bugs. Keep up the great work.
On Apple appstore it now shows v1.1 but after installing the app it still says 1.0.0 in the about-box and reminders don’t seem to play. Did something go wrong with the summitting of v1.1?
If you updated the app, it is 1.1. I forgot to update the text in the about box to 1.1
I think you’re right, cause I did hear a reminder play 3 times last night. Thanks
I’ve encountered a bug while calibrating my device. ( iPhone 3GS running 5.0.1 )
The process never seems finish although the process bar is full and the sound is played. It says that the gyro is on but the accelerometer is off wich might have something to do with the failure. I do not know how to turn the accelerometer on.
Thank you Frank!
This is the first reliable bug report about iPhone 3GS calibration issue that I’ve seen. I will investigate the issue.
Nexus S
ICS 4.0.3
It analyzes no sleep data just Audio Level, Adio Level Kurtosis? Reminder and XYZ Activity Count
Why is there no Sleep Duration?
In SleepasanDroid App there you can see the Sleep State. And the app also says 0,0 hours of sleep??!!
I also have this problem. As a result the app doesn’t seem to be collecting any graph data and the reminders don’t seem to activate. These are all probably related.
( iPhone 3GS running 5.0.1 )
Thanks

Nexus S
ICS 4.0.3
I cant see my sleep Data just Audio Recognition and such Audio stuff which is not interesting me.
With the App “Sleep as Android” i see much more of my Dream phases.
I downloaded the app cause i wanted set the sleepreminders in rem stages but the app doesnt show me any sleep phases just the audio things.
Also the app says that i have 0,0 hours of sleep ??!
iPhone 4 running 5.0.1.
I seem to get reminders at very weird moments, sometimes even a minute after starting monitoring. I was expecting reminders only to be around the markers and 3 a night.
Is that a bug or as designed?
Thank you for a detailed bug report, I will take a look at what might be causing this to happen.
I’ve experimented with it some more and the most likely cause is that disabled and hidden reminders still produce visual reminders. I’ve tried everything to disable all reminders, but without success. I think I’m gonna wait till the next update before continuing testing.
I’ve added some screenshots for more info:

Hello!
Firstly, I must say that this app looks AWESOME. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages. So thank you for putting the time and effort into making it amazing.
I have a problem though (I’m using iPhone 4S)
The app just randomly freezes in the middle of the night and I don’t get any reminders ):
I’ve tried restarting my phone and reinstalling the app but nothing works.
Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback!
I’ve heard about the 4S issue before and will test it once I get a hold of an iPhone 4S!
-Alex
Thanks for this app – the data is really interesting!
The bug I’m seeing is this:
- Turn the app on, start collecting data before bed
- As expected (i guess) two alerts are put into my notifications tray about data being collected
- In the morning, I wake up and tell the app to stop collecting data
- The notifications are still there – when I click the one about collecting microphone data, it doesn’t go away (the other one does)
- I have to go into manage applications and kill Lucid Dreaming App to get that notification to go away
Phone: HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE, Model #: ADR6400L
Android: 2.3.4
HTC Sense version: 2.1
Thanks again!
same bug here.
Reminders never play (manual ones do).
I’ve double checked that they’re enabled, with light and sound enabled too. If I set it up so a reminder should happen right after start, it never happens. The orange arrow just slowly moves past it.
I’m running on iPod touch ios 5
The reminders are triggered by your motion in bed that the app attempts to detect and recognize. Because the app tries to play the reminder in the dreaming phase, it is likely that it cannot recognize your sleep pattern. To test if your reminders have played, go to your history, tap on a row and use the action button in top right to email you the data for the app. Look at the reminder column. If you see something that is not 0, means the reminder was queued or played (3 is played I believe). This way you can test if the app is working.
If it does not working, your next best bet is to try the wristband mode, as it is far more accurate.
Phone: HTC Tattoo
Android: 1.6
It crashes on startup!
The app requires Android 2.2 . The lowest I tested with was 2.0.
Hello,
I tried to make some recordings from typical night and each graph showed strange behavior of the Sleep Episodes line, . I did calibration (quick, extended), I re-instaled the app, and still got that strange slep episodes line. Have you got any idea, why?
I use Samsung galaxy s+ with android 2.3.4.
Thanks.
Sorry, sleep episodes now display sleep depth, this is why it looks like a jagged line
I found a bug on my milestone phone.
Sleep episodes graph is completely wrong i.e. on all screenshots it looks like square wave, while on my phone i see something like sawtooth wave.
And sleep episodes graph is inverted i.e. it’ tells I’am sleeping while I’am awake and vice versa: I score 20 on sleep episodes which means I’am sleeping, while sleep duration is flat, saying I’am awake. Because of that my smart timers doesn’t work at all.
tl;dr
Here is the screenshot of my problem:
http://rghost.net/37691465.view
That’s a feature, not a bug. I found that sleep depth is a better indication of the quality of sleep. Now the phone displays your episodes of deeper sleep as drops in the sleep episodes graph. Each triangle pointing down is a deeper sleep episode. The feature is still not complete.
I have the IPAD 1, up to date IOS 5.1.1 and the app will not calibrate. It makes the tone like it has finished but it still says status : Calibrating…
Shows no graphs
Any luck with the IPAD 1?
Sorry, I’ve never had iPads in mind for this app
I know that you currently don’t have time for andro app development and that stuff, but is there any solution to wrong generation of audio level kurtosis? This particular graph is made of dots, not lines… Other features seems to be OK.
The audio level kurtosis is correct. If I show that graph as lines, it will be very messy. This is why it is dots. I usually disable it when viewing the graph.
Oh, I understand it now
I made an excel spreadsheet with my own trends (just to check it) and it was very messy indeed.
Hi Alexander, any chance you could fix a bug in the Wild timer config? I’m using an HTC Wildfire on 2.2, and the Wild notification sound comes out of the phone’s speaker even when earphones are plugged in. It doesn’t do this on the normal notification, just the wild timer. Hope you can get back to some work on the Android version. Brilliant app!
If the digital clock will be shown all the time then appear a negative effect on the LCD matrix. When I close the application, I noticed a marks of digits on the screen.
ps. sorry for my english
I don’t know about the device that you are using. Traditionally, screen savers were used for CRT monitors, where the cathode ray tube could really burn out the screen, if it shone on it constantly. LCD displays use backlight and colored pixels over that. While the backlight may fail after a while, I’m not aware of any issues with the pixels of an LCD display dying out because of a few nights of being on.
hello,
I have a galaxy s2 and a zeo headband, but it seems that the app with samsung cellphone does not work properly. at beginning the reminder worked one time in the night, although I had all the events activated . I was satisfied, although it did not work 100%.
But now the reminder no longer work.
I have a lot of research on their website and read that the program has difficulties with samsung galaxy.
I would now like to chew me a new cellphone and could get a cheap htc hero. the htc hero working now with the v0.8 app ?
which cellphone can recommend you?
thank you
I don’t know about HTC hero, but samsung Androids are in general buggy. It’s not just my app that is having problems with them, but others too :/
Whenever I collect data, it doesn’t recignise when i am sleeping. It shows user events, time in bed, no dreams, and no sleep.
You add dream events yourself, using on screen gestures.
Not really a bug but just a general issue. There doesn’t appear to be an option for me to turn the vibration off for the voice reminder. I can’t use this app for lucid dreaming at the moment as the vibration jolts me awake. Using a HTC one x . Cheers x
Hello Alexander.
Thanks for this app which seems promising
Here is a screen shot of the Graph given by your app on Samsung
Galaxy S Android after one night.
http://www.happyparents.com/pers/screen-shot_personal_test.jpg
I’ve already did a new long calibration
for the accelerometer. I always get this king of graph.
Don’t understand why Sleep episodes currves gave these descending stairs
while the green curve gave a progressive linear sleep duration whithout break.
I’m really eager to be able to use your app.
Thanks
Eric
Hi alex, I have some weird things going on on my Iphone 5
I start the app before I go to sleep, wake up next morning and find the app either on the singularity (home)screen, no activity recorded or only a small (less than one hour) fragment.
On other occasions I start the app, wake up next morning and find the app on the dimmed screen, not responding to any input, after which I have to force-close the app. When I reopen it afterwards the first time it shows the start-up screen and shuts down again right away. When I try to open it the time after that, it opens normally, but no data of that night has been recorded.
I hope you can fix this, I had my first lucid dream thanks to this app when it still used to work. Keep up the good work!
The iOS6 update has messed up some of the memory management for earlier apps. There’s a lot of work required to fix it properly …
Hai,
I am a developer andere over time i noticed you kinda dropped android for iOS. This is really sad because I think android gives you a wider field of people and more freedom. Thus my question, is there anyway i can help to improve this app by contributing and updating on your existing code.
Mail me:)
Thankd
I believe the source for the latest stable version 0.7.4 is posted here: https://code.google.com/p/android-lucid-dreaming-app/downloads/list If you can check it out, you can take a look at it and maybe continue developing the project.
Hi, Alexander.
I experienced the following bug:
The reminder stoped working since I used the Zeo head band. No reinstall was able to sort the problem. So the APP is completely useless now since the reminder don’t work without Zeo anymore.
Will you fix Theiß Problem?
Thanks for this nice APP anyway.
It’s crashes in the morning after using beginner mode and I can’t tap anything when it happens
